Auditions

Clients start a new project by filling out a brief with details relevant to the type of emotions and music they are looking for from musicians. This initial stage is called defining and reviewing (before payment). Once the client has paid for the project, it transitions into the auditioning stage. Auditioning a project is the time when a project is available to all musicians that are part of the specified level or above. For example, if a clients asks for Established musicians for their project, these project will be available to Established and Accomplished level musicians but not to those in the Emerging level.

Clients start a new project by filling out a brief with details relevant to the type of emotions and music they are looking for from musicians. This initial stage is referred to as defining and reviewing (before payment). Once the client has paid for the project, it transitions into the auditioning phase. Auditioning for a project is when a project is available to all musicians that are part of the specified level or above. For example, suppose a client asks for Established musicians for their project. In that case, this project will be available to Established and Accomplished level musicians but not to those at the Emerging level. It is also the step when a client can end their project and ask for a refund, no questions asked.

For a musician, this step is a way to propose a short musical idea to the client. It requires the least amount of comitment on your part. Depending on the length of music the client is looking for, audtions require…

Music Length Audition Length
up to 1 minute of music up to 10 seconds
up to 2 minutes of music up to 20 seconds
up to 3 minutes of music up to 30 seconds
up to 4 minutes of music up to 40 seconds
up to 5 minutes of music up to 50 seconds

This should be enough music to give the client an idea of what you’re proposing. Keep in mind that you can submit more than one idea at a time. You can also participate in more than one audition. Once you are selected as a favorite, you will need to commit to the project since you may be chosen as the winner and must finish the job defined by the brief.
